About this design

Five women with angular, mask-like faces crowd a flat Cubist canvas in orange, rust, teal and black, with a small bowl of fruit at the foot of the scene. Three concentric square frames, each with black, cream and red rings, serve as the finder squares and sit naturally among the figures as framed pictures. The modules are carried by the shards of skin, drapery and shadow, whose dark outlines against pale orange and cream keep the pattern sharp. Fragmented faces turned in different directions give the piece its distinctive rhythm.
