About this design

A fantasy machine assembled from layered gears, clock faces, rulers, switchboard panels and patent-style diagrams on a cream ground. Three dark-brown wooden frames, each holding a black square with a concentric dial, hide the finder squares. Black cogs, perforated plates and ruled strips carry the light and dark modules across the middle. Strong contrast between black gear teeth and pale paper keeps the pattern clear, while small red, yellow and pale blue panels add color. Tiny arrows and nonsense labels radiate from the edges.
