Two songbirds, one with a long pointed beak and one with a yellow beak, are built from rolled paper strips in white, navy, red and teal on a soft blue backdrop. Tight coils and scrolling feather shapes hide the finder squares and carry the dark and light modules across the wings, tails and leafy swirls. Navy and red coils against cream paper give strong contrast, and the small circles are spread evenly through the composition. Soft shadows between the layers give the piece a raised, handcrafted feel.
