A round compass with an eight-point star at its center and a large engraved rose resting behind its upper right edge. Three square frames with crossed centers sit inside the dial and rose area, reading as bold nautical badges. The dark modules are drawn as inky blotches, bars and lettered direction marks across the compass face. Strong black against pale gray, plus fine hatching on the petals and leaves, keeps the pattern crisp while giving the piece a classic flash-sheet look.
